Still finding these little treasures in my --almost 14 year old-- boy's pockets... are we paying attention at school... or just doodling and daydreaming? I want to remember that it will be a sad day when I go through pockets on laundry day and do not find wrappers, notes home and golden nuggets like this...

Really it was juvie, or rather, the AZ Juvenile Department of Corrections. Vince's work (State of AZ) has offered free flu shots at different locations during this flu season. While looking at the list AND our schedule, we decided to go to the Department of Corrections. This was the only choice until the middle of November where the location was the Attorney Generals Office. "This will do", we thought. Vince called to make sure other agencies were welcome and they said "sure... there is an admin building in the front, no problem!" So today when we pulled up to see a guarded gate and heavily barbed wire fences all the way up to the sky!!, we were unsure. They were accommodating, but you could tell that the only people getting flu shots today were the Corrections employees. (No other families with young children ventured out to the kid jail????) :) Anyway... it was an interesting experience. Bryant and I had to stay outside (the flu shots were for 4 years and older, and I already received a flu shot at a doctor check up)... PLUS, anyone going inside had to be wearing closed toed shoes and Wyatt had on sandals. Wyatt ended up wearing MY shoes and off my family went ---through the metal detector, one by one... through the heavy gate after being buzzed in... escorted by two officers and into the ADMIN BUILDING! As they were walking back, I noticed they had candy. The boys looked fine but my Brenna had red eyes. Vince said she fussed and cried so much that the nurse said she wouldn't give her the shot... then Vince stepped in and gave her a pep talk and she managed. She later told me it didn't even hurt that bad. Go figure! We went out for dinner after and the conversations here and there throughout the night were hilarious!
Riley: "Dad couldn't we just have gone to the DOCTORS OFFICE?"
Brenna: "Jail for kids is scary!"
Preston: "Kids live here???"
Brenna: "I want to be really good from now on so I never have to go live at that place!"
Preston: "I bet someone could climb those gates if they tried!"
Wyatt: "No way Preston, do you see how high they are? And they have razors at the top!"
Brenna: "I'm going to be SO good!!"
So I think we accomplished two things today... received flu shots AND scared our kids straight! All in all, a very productive day! :)

After Sacrament Meeting today, there was an announcement that the Primary children should stay in the chapel to practice for their Primary Program coming up next week.
Preston replied under his breath...
" I wish the Primary Program never existed!! --(ARMS FOLDED)-- I really don't like singing. It is the worst thing about Primary!! I would have more fun if I went with you to your meeting today!!! "
How is a mother supposed to respond to that??
I just smiled and told him I thought he sings great and that I will be so excited to see the program next week!!
"Now off you go! :) LOVE YOU!"

The other night I was giving all the boys haircuts and Brenna insisted on having hers cut too! She asked for bangs... Since it took Brenna quite a while to grow out her bangs from last time, I asked her many times if she was sure... She waited through all of the boy turns and she STILL wanted those bangs. Here she is... CUTE as can be!!

Today was Grandparents Day at school. Nana and Papa were able to come and visit the kids. What a TREAT! We were able to go into the classrooms and see what goes on in a school day at Red Rock Elementary.
Brenna loved having her Nana and Papa come to her school. They read her a story and saw the kids in action on the magic carpet. It was library day for Brenna and we were able to see her check out books and read stories. Brenna has lots of friends and looks very comfortable at school.
We were on our way to Wyatt's class and saw his teacher, she said they were at music class, so we headed over to the music room and saw Wyatt playing the drums! SO MUCH FUN! We were able to go to Wyatt's class after music and saw where he sits and his art work. He then ran out for recess (swings of course!) He loves school!
We then went by Riley's classroom, but he was just starting a math test, so we said a quick hi and left him to it. Nana and Papa were very sensitive to the fact that Riley might be embarrassed that we were there... I think he liked it!! :)
Preston was surprised to see us. Nana and Papa went over to his desk and met a few of his friends. Preston's teacher, Mrs. Nichols, explained that Aldo sits next to Preston because "Aldo has no self control, and he is trying to learn self control from Preston." Preston smiles and shakes his head. Preston then gets to have a turn on the inter-write board and read from his journal. It was great to see Preston in his class.
After the tour of classes we saw the gym and computer lab and other points of interest and then headed over to the cafeteria where they had freshly made cookies and lemonade. We really love our school and were so happy that Nana and Papa could come and see the kids in their classes. What a fun memory that will be for them!!

This was a Super Saturday craft. Fun to make, and I love to see these sweet faces.
--- Also SO much fun to play with!!
We have a lot of fun mixing around the kids pictures... An eye from Wyatt, hair from Brenna... It is a good laugh! Brenna and I were playing with them and Wyatt said, "Don't use me, I don't want anything to do with the silly pictures!" --- He is a funny one! --We couldn't resist!! :)
